Stay Tuned: New Visit Fairfax Extranet Coming Soon!
In the coming months, the Visit Fairfax Partner Extranet will be getting a brand new look.
Visit Fairfax has been hard at work alongside our CRM provider to build a new portal for our partners to engage with fxva.com, view and bid on leads, and interact with fellow partners.
Much of the guts of the extranet is the same, but the design will be getting a fresh, new look. There will also be a few new features that we're sure you will love, like an easy drag-and-drop for uploading images to your website listing and a Post Board that provides the opportunity to interact with other partners to share offers and news.
Because this extranet is how you view and respond to sales opportunities, we want to ensure that the transition goes smoothly. We are currently developing training opportunities and will be in touch soon with more information regarding a launch date and training materials.
Please direct any questions in the interim to Ali Morris at amorris@fxva.com.

Tourism Revenue Reached $2.93 Billion in Fairfax County in 2015
According to the U.S. Travel Association, Fairfax County is once again one of the top contributors to the Commonwealth of Virginia's tourism economy, generating $2.93 billion in travel expenditures in 2015, a three percent increase over 2014. Local tourism-supported jobs totaled nearly 30,000, with earnings of more than $633 million.
Tourism in the Northern Virginia region is an incredibly important contributor to the state's economy, as five of the jurisdictions in the region (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William) are among the top 10 overall contributors of the Commonwealth's tourism economy, generating a combined total of $8.94 billion. This combined total accounts for a whopping 40 percent of Virginia's overall tourism economy. According to USTA's data, tourism in Virginia generated $23 billion in travel spending in 2015 and supported 223,000 jobs.
All data was received by the Virginia Tourism Corporation from the U.S. Travel Association and is based on domestic visitor spending from trips taken 50 miles or more away from home. Read the research at www.vatc.org and www.ustravel.org.

Groundbreakings and Openings in Fairfax County
It's been a busy summer in Fairfax County. From groundbreakings to hotel and attraction openings, there are many things to look forward to in Northern Virginia.
In September, ground was broken at Fort Belvoir to mark the location of the long-awaited National Museum of the United States Army. The museum will be a national landmark to honor America's soldiers, preserve the service's history, educate visitors and serve as a dedicated and central spot for soldiers, veterans and their families to reflect and commemorate the shared experience of the Army community. The museum is expected to open in 2019.
Also in September, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for The Boro, a 4.2 million-square-foot development in the heart of Tysons. The Boro will include a mix of office, residential, entertainment and retail space, including a Whole Foods Market and cinema. The development will be located within steps of the Greensboro Metro station.
Our famous neighbor to the east welcomed a brand new (and highly-anticipated) tourist attraction last month, as the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture opened to the public on the National Mall. The museum becomes the 19th of the Smithsonian Institution and is devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. This new museum will be a huge draw for family reunion groups visiting Fairfax County and the Capital Region.
Fairfax County also welcomed two brand new hotels, with a third gearing up to open in March 2017. The Hampton Inn & Suites Falls Church opened its doors in June, with an official ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration last month. The 160-room hotel is located along Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church, near Seven Corners. The TownePlace Suites by Marriott Alexandria Fort Belvoir also recently opened as a new extended stay property along Richmond Highway. The property offers 93 rooms, is pet-friendly, and is located just a half mile from Fort Belvoir. A new Fairfield Inn & Suites will also open along Richmond Highway this March, featuring 85 rooms and 31 suites.
